Destani is featured with Bandaloop and has been commissioned to compose the music with Ben Jouldavakis for a new peice caslled “Birdstrike.

A world premiere is the one that will be presented by BANDALOOP in the heights of Santiago, who will reflect on migration without borders and the care of ecosystems.

Commissioned by the Teatro a Mil International Festival, the American company BANDALOOP will premiere Bird Strike, a new long-lasting vertical international dance and music collaboration. The work is inspired by borderless migration, nesting and feeding of bird species in urban spaces.

Bird Strike invites audiences to question the city/wilderness binary, viewing man-made environments and sprawling urban development as both threats and opportunities for non-human species. The work explores the awareness, participation and care of ecosystems in a rapidly changing climate, and recognizes the urban space as a choreography of cohabitation between species.

Like all his previous works, BANDALOOP will create choreographies of human movement, both poetic and everyday, this time at the top of the streets of the city of Santiago, spaces previously only inhabited by birds. The singularity of this new work is that it will emerge in collaboration with the place itself and with an original score with Chilean musicians.

Bird Strike will review BANDALOOP’s three decades of history with architecture and the built environment, to now celebrate the creative urbanity of Santiago de Chile.

Un estreno mundial es el que presentarán los estadounidenses de BANDALOOP en las alturas de Santiago, quienes reflexionarán sobre la migración sin fronteras y el cuidado de los ecosistemas.

Por encargo del Festival Internacional Teatro a Mil, la compañía estadounidense BANDALOOP estrenará Bird Strike, una nueva colaboración vertical internacional de danza y música de larga duración. La obra se inspira en la migración sin fronteras, la anidación y la alimentación de las especies de aves en los espacios urbanos.

Bird Strike invita al público a cuestionar el binario ciudad/tierra salvaje, observando los entornos creados por el hombre y el desarrollo urbano en expansión, como amenazas y oportunidades para las especies no humanas. La obra explora la conciencia, la participación y el cuidado de los ecosistemas en un clima que cambia rápidamente, y reconoce el espacio urbano como una coreografía de cohabitación entre especies.

Como todos sus trabajos anteriores, BANDALOOP creará coreografías de movimiento humano, tanto poético como cotidiano, esta vez en lo alto de las calles de la ciudad de Santiago, espacios antes sólo habitados por aves. La singularidad de esta nueva obra es que surgirá en colaboración con el propio lugar y con una partitura original con músicos chilenos.

Bird Strike revisará las tres décadas de trayectoria de BANDALOOP con la arquitectura y el entorno construido, para ahora celebrar la urbanidad creativa de Santiago de Chile.
